Isolated Sign Language Recognition

We are participating in the Isolated Sign Language Recognition competition hosted by Google. Our objective is to create an innovative AI model that can identify American Sign Language (ASL) signs in video footage.

This new technology will be integrated into the educational app PopSign, which is developed to empower parents of deaf children to learn sign language. With real-time feedback on sign performance provided by the algorithm, users can learn faster and more effectively.

The parents learning sign language is crucial for the development of the children. Infants who experience a lack of natural language exposure during their critical language development years are at risk of Language Deprivation Syndrome. This syndrome can affect many parts of their lives, such as relationships, education achievements, and career opportunities. By developing accessible language education through technology, we can help mitigate these risks and foster a more inclusive society.
